Issue in Brief
No placement fee policy

What you need to know
New Zealand is a 'no placement' fee destination for migrant workers.
Employers shoulder the recruitment cost.
But workers complained that they were charged exorbitant fees before departing for NZ.
Because of worker pressure, an agreement between Philippine and New Zealand Governments was signed to ensure workers are protected from exploitation.
Despite this, some recruitment agencies still violate the policy, charging workers as much as P300,000 or $8,000 before departure. The fees are payable for one year.
